    Sugar Flowers from around the World. An inspirational source book for sugarcraft artists.
    Nicholas Lodge spends much of each year lecturing and demonstrating overseas and always returns home with plenty of new ideas. During his trip around the world in 1988 he was inspired to reproduce in sugar the many exotic flowers that he saw growing in their natural habit. This enchanting book is based on the notes he made whilst travelling.
    As he writes in the introduction, "one of the pleasures of making the flowers featured in this book was that I was reminded of the beautiful places where I had seen them growing."
    He has created wedding cakes using the appropiate flowers to convey his impressions of each of the eight regions featured in this book. Other flowers of each region are shown on celebration cakes, including several which are particularly suitable for a man's birthday. He also describes some of the wedding and other customs of the different regions.
    Some of the flowers can be made by anyone with a basic knowledge of sugarcraft techniques; others are more intricate. The accuracy of the colouring and shading is the key to making the flowers look realistic.
    Detailed instructions are given for making more than 45 flowers, with photographs showing both the various steps and the finished flower.
